Making Lighter Vehicles is Honda's New Focus

Starting in 2012 Honda will begin focusing their efforts on making their vehicles 10 percent lighter. All of us here at Newark Honda are eager to see the new changes.
Honda will change the design and how the car is manufactured. There are currently two steel sheets, of varying thickness, they will combine into one. The one sheet is heat treated making it stronger. Another change will be in the welding. Outer panels will be welded to the frame instead of assembling them all separate, reducing the use of bolts or other reinforcing materials.
The N Box city car, a new mini vehicle model in the N Series of mini cars, has been the test model for many the Honda's weight reducing efforts. Efforts have been made to reduce the weight of the vehicle by 10 percent while simultaneously lowering manufacturing costs.
Many vehicles as they are updated year after year their weight increases due to attempts to improve safety and luxury features. Heavier vehicles negatively affect fuel consumption and in the green world we live in today this isn't desirable. So slowly but surely car manufactures have started to do what they can to make their best selling models lighter than the year before.
This is a large undertaking for Honda as they will invest money to update the US and overseas manufacturing plants. After all changes have been made Honda cars will be lighter, cheaper and of course more fuel efficient.
As always you can depend on Honda Dealers Manhattan to provide you with the most up to date models as well as used cars. Stop by and see what's in our show room.
