Honda Warning & Indicator Lights

Honda dashboards will have indicator lights color-coded from blue and green to red and yellow (amber). There are also some neutral white indicators.

Blue and green indicators usually include high beams and lights, cruise control activation, lane assist, and other safety indications.

If your dashboard begins to show yellow (amber) or red light indicators, you might need to examine what your vehicle is trying to notify you of and its severity.

Honda Service Indicator: What Does a Yellow Light Mean?

Yellow (Amber) light indicators in a Honda represent an issue or a warning that your vehicle needs to be looked at by either you or a nearby dealer.

Some common service-related notifications you may run into can include:

  • Malfunction Indicator Lamp – An engine-shaped icon.

  • Low Fuel – Gas station pump icon.

  • Electric Power Steering (EPS) – A steering wheel with an exclamation.

  • Low Tire Pressure/TPMS - Bottom half of an hourglass with an exclamation point in it.

The low fuel indicator typically means you need to refuel as soon as possible, but if it begins to blink, there could be something wrong with the fuel gauge, and you will need to get that checked out by a professional.

Just like the fuel indication, if you notice the low tire pressure/TPMS reading as yellow, you need to stop at a safe place, check the tire pressure, and inflate if necessary. If the system continues after those steps have been taken, there’s a chance it needs to be brought to a dealership and recalibrated or further evaluated for the existing issue.

What Does a Red Service Indicator Mean?

When you see a red indicator light up on the dashboard, you will need your Honda looked at right away.

Some urgent red service-related indicators could include:

  • Charging System (Battery)

  • Brake System

  • Supplemental Restraint System Indicator (Air Bags & Seatbelt Tension)

The moment you notice either of these indicators pop up on your dashboard, it’s important that you bring your Honda to our service department to have a look immediately.

You may not run into the Supplemental Restraint System as often as you may with the charging system or the brakes, but these indicators should be treated as a high priority and serviced as soon as possible.
